University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire Jazz Festival 2010
This past April, the BC Jazzers traveled to Wisconsin for an overnight band tour. A fancy coach bus took them to Eau Claire where they spent the day having a blast at Action City and Chaos Water Park. Then, after a fun-filled night of hanging out at the very nice hotel, they attended the world-renowned Jazz Festival.
This is a competitive festival where bands are judged and prizes are awarded; however, bands can elect to go in exhibition. The BC Jazzers went in exhibition due to the fact that both the competitive format and the festival were completely new experiences for this very young group.
The band sounded GREAT and received a TON of positive feedback from the many people that heard their performance. The first thing the judge asked was why the BC Jazzers weren’t competing because they are VERY good.
Over the course of the four-day festival, hundreds of high school and college jazz bands from around the region participated. The BC Jazz Band had two members receive top festival honors - “Best in Festival” for their superior performance: Tanner Baker and Moua Lee. Congratulations to all of the BC Jazzers for a job well-done!
